The area mixes renovated housing blocks, public buildings — the prefecture, the courthouse, a conservatory — and the Canal de l'Ourcq, whose landscaped banks double as a continuous cycle path towards Pantin and Parc de la Villette. Shops cluster around Pablo-Picasso and the Bobigny 2 centre.
It's a working neighbourhood more than a nightlife one, and it's worth saying plainly. In return, rents here run €300-400 below a comparable studio inside central Paris, and the time saved on a daily Sorbonne Paris Nord commute is real.
