Bezons: what the neighbourhood is like

Bezons is in the Val-d'Oise, on the right bank of the Seine, right at the edge of the Hauts-de-Seine. Tramway T2 has its terminus here at Pont de Bezons and runs the length of western Paris to Porte de Versailles, passing through La Défense on the way — with no change.

That's the decisive advantage of this address, and it's unique in the network: direct access to Europe's largest business district, to Université Paris Nanterre in about fifteen minutes, and to the RER A for Cergy Paris Université. No other residence here serves western Île-de-France.

The Seine riverbanks and municipal parks shape the setting; shops cluster around the town centre. The neighbourhood is noticeably more residential and suburban than the Seine-Saint-Denis addresses in this network — a plus if you want quiet, a minus if you want a student scene on your doorstep.

Who Nouvelle Seine is right for

Good fit if…

Skip it if…

Lucas visited Nouvelle Seine in person and checked, firsthand:

  • the T2 tram at peak times, all the way to La Défense
  • the T3 layout for a three-way flatshare
  • access to Université Paris Nanterre
The direct T2 is the argument for this address. I rode it at peak times: the frequency holds up, but the tram fills up well before La Défense.

Frequently asked questions

Is this the right choice for Paris Nanterre?

Yes — it's the only residence in the network genuinely positioned for western Paris. Nanterre is about fifteen minutes away via tramway T2, and the university itself is directly connected to its own RER A and Transilien station.

Does tramway T2 really reach La Défense with no change?

Yes. From the Pont de Bezons terminus, T2 runs along western Paris via La Défense to Porte de Versailles. That makes this address useful for Nanterre, for an internship or job at La Défense, and for a campus in the 15th arrondissement, all at once.

What's the real cost after housing benefit?

Roughly €250-280/month in APL for a student with no income, bringing the monthly cost to about €477-507. Bezons is in the Val-d'Oise, so the CAF zoning differs from central Paris — the simulation on caf.fr with the exact address is the only reliable figure.

Can I flatshare in a T3 here?

Yes — Nouvelle Seine is one of only two residences in the network with three-room units, under a single lease covering the whole unit. Each flatmate can then claim housing benefit on their own share.

What's included in the rent?

Water, electricity, heating, fibre, upkeep of shared areas and waste collection tax, no agency fee. Renter's insurance (about €6/month, mandatory) and a one-month deposit excluding charges are separate.

Is this residence a good fit for a campus in Seine-Saint-Denis?

No, and it's worth saying plainly: this is the worst-positioned residence in the network for Paris 8, Sorbonne Paris Nord or Campus Condorcet. Any of the other eight residences will serve those campuses better.
